Although Act 57 of 2004 does not prohibit you from serving as both the students interpreter and as a participant at the IEP meeting, adequately performing both functions can be difficult. You, the student and the parents should discuss this, understand the challenges and agree to your joint participation before the meeting or find any ODHH registered or EIPA qualified interpreter to interpret for the student.
