I am an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority recognition. What do I need to submit to the Board to renew my prescriptive authority?
If you are renewing your prescriptive authority, you will need to enter the total number of contact hours or academic credit hours earned in the two years prior to the effective date of application for renewal of prescriptive authority. If you are an ARNP, CNM or CNS, a minimum of 15 contact hours or one academic credit hour is required for renewal. This continuing education or academic credit must be directly related to pharmacotherapeutics, clinical application and use of pharmacological agents in the prevention of illness, and in the restoration and maintenance of health, in a program beyond basic registered nurse preparation, applicable to your scope of practice. If you are a CRNA, a minimum of eight units of continuing education in advanced pharmacology relating to the administration of anesthesia, as recognized by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists is required.
