I am about to buy a flatscreen TV – which is best – Plasma or LCD?
Neither is outright better than the other but each has its best application. Plasma is best from 42″ and upwards, in bright rooms with side lighting or when viewed from side angles a lot. Plasma is cheaper, brighter and still better for fast action. LCD is best for normal TV viewing up to 40″ maybe 46″ at a pinch, lots of light directly behind you at the viewing position, video games and where it is also used as a computer monitor or media centre display. LCD is getting cheaper but still more expensive than Plasma. Also LCD is greener – i.e. it uses less power and generates less heat. This also makes it perfect for small spaces and caravans. LCDs are also lighter to carry. Hope that helps!
