I am a UK student going to university in September. Can HEFCE help me financially?
The role of HEFCE is to provide funds directly to English universities and colleges. We do not offer financial aid to individual students. If you are a British citizen living in Britain the best source of financial information is the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS). Information on student finance is available on the DIUS web-site or tel 01928 794666. UK undergraduates can apply to their Local Authority to see if they are eligible for a student loan and assistance with tuition fees. The Department for Children, Schools and Families provide Local Authority addresses. You could also contact the Education Grants Advisory Service, which is part of the Family Welfare Association. They can be contacted on 020 7254 6251 (lines open 2-4 Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) and can advise on post-16 education funding, including grants from charities.
