The regulation states all teachers, which includes teachers, tutors, trainers, lecturers, instructors, must register with the Institute. This is regardless of: • job title; • type of contract; • full or part time status; and • Whether teaching is combined with other non-teaching or teacher related roles e.g.: managers, assessors, verifiers etc. It is possible that one person with the job title i.e. Assessor will have to register and another will not. This will be dependent upon their actual job role and should be decided by the employee and their employer in conjunction with the LLUK guidance. If the employee carries out any teaching then the reforms apply. Employees not fulfilling a teaching role are encouraged to join as there will be a benefit to them in doing so and establishing a presence within the Institute which will develop and support individual and collective professionalism.
