I am a headteacher. How do I create an AST post?
Firstly, you should establish who will be funding the post. If the post is to be funded through the LA you need to contact your LA AST coordinator to discuss funding and outreach issues. Once these issues have been agreed you can proceed with recruitment. Applicants who have not yet passed AST assessment will need to arrange for the assessment to be carried out [see Q24 below]. All applications for assessment should be copied to the LA’s AST coordinator for information. If the post is to be funded by the school you can move directly to recruitment.
