When Ofsted transferred you to the new Childcare registers you would have been placed on both the Early Years Register and the Compulsory and Voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. As a Childminder registered on the Voluntary part of the Childcare Register, you will need to demonstrate how you meet the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge or hold a relevant level 2 or above qualification. The Common Core is a set of skills and knowledge required for all those people whose work brings them into regular contact with children, young people and families and this includes volunteer workers. The skills and knowledge you are required to have are described under six main headings: • Communication • Development • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child • Supporting transitions by helping children to move from one setting to another or from one phase of development to another • Working with many different agencies • Sharing information Further information is available from www.cwd
