I already take a basic antioxidant formula that contains vitamins A, C, E, lutein and zeaxanthin. Isn that enough to protect my eyes?
Vitamins A, C and E are important eye nutrients. Lutein and zeaxanthin have also been proven to support healthy vision. However, new research indicates a third carotenoid, meso-zeaxanthin may be needed for complete macular density protection.* Scientists believe meso-zeaxanthin can provide better protection against lipid membrane oxidation than lutein and zeaxanthin.* Secondly, the conversion process of lutein to meso-zeaxanthin may not be as efficient throughout the retina as previously thought.
