Not necessarily – depending on your circumstances some Insurers offer what we call “Switch terms” where you are allowed (subject to completion of a simple declaration and acceptance by the underwriters) to switch into a new scheme, but take the start date of any pre-existing condition waiting period as the start date of your previous policy. This means that you don’t have to start the waiting period again.
