A. You must use tax year 2008 for any vehicle placed in service between July 1 2008 and June 30 2009. What is the date placed in service? Tax year 2009 is for vehicles placed in service after July 1st, 2009 until June 2010. The IRS will not process a return before the date the form is due. So tax year 2009 forms are not due yet.
