Every day at around noon and 6:00pm, a copy of your NetFiles folders is placed in a special hidden folder. Every 24 hours, a new copy will overwrite the previous day’s backup. You can use this backup to restore files that you may have accidentally modified or deleted from your NetFiles folders during the previous 24 hours. Each person has a backup folder located at: \\netfiles\users\\\.backups (note the “.” before the word “backups”). For example, someone with a NetID of “zjones” would have a NetFiles backup accessible at \\netfiles\users\z\zjones\.backups. Windows users can also access their backup folder at U:\.backups. When you access your backup folder, you will see two sub-folders—one for your noon backup and one for your 6pm backup. You can open either of these backup folders to copy (restore) a file from your NetFiles share backed up during that time.
