I accidentally added the potassium sorbate instead of the yeast. What do I do?

A-This is not an easy fix as sorbate neutralizes yeast. Try adding calcium carbonate (plain Tums or Rolaids), grind it up, dissolve it in water and add to must, the carbonate bonds to the sorbate and within 24 hours should rise to the top as a layer of scum. Skim this scum off and dispose of it and then sprinkle the yeast over the must. Monitor to make sure fermentation proceeds normally.
