HP MediaSmart server won detect printer attatched to it with USB, why?

Both HP and Windows say they can’t support this issue, so I feel totally screwed right about now! Anyway, I can’t get the darn printer to show up. I even used the remote desktop function to look at the server and see if I could find the printer and it was not there. My laptop recognizes it instantly, so I know it’s plug and play. The printer is an HP PSC 2355 and server is and HP MediaSmart Server EX470. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! The product cannot be used as a print server; hence, no printer can be installed on the device to be used as a shared network printer.
