Howa do fungus-like protists obtain energy?
All life acquires energy through sunlight (phototrophs) or oxidation of molecules (chemotrophs). Anything fungus-like does not photosynthesize, so it is chemotroph. Unless the organism is lithotrophic (oxidizes inorganic compounds), which it most likely is not, then it obtains energy from organic compounds. So proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids from other organisms, alive or dead, become the foodstuff for your fungus-like protists.
