How would you explain the meaning of metaphysics to someone with a very limited background in philosophy?
Meta (Greek = After) Physics (Greek = Nature) this was the follow up to Aristotles work ‘Nature’ hence the title ‘After Nature’. Metaphysics is an umbrella term, but put most simply it deals with epistemology (the theory of knowledge), ontology (being or the categories of things that exist), time, space, causality, reality and god.
