How would you describe the language used in Shirley Valentine that shows the feeling of isolation ?

The feeling of isolation is talking to a wall and a microwave, she never saw anyone from one day to the next and in desperation she started talking to the wall and other kitchen appliances. When her husband came home from work all he wanted to do was eat and then go to sleep after a days work, not a lot of stimulation there. Even his meals had to be ready at a certain time and they had to be set meals for set days. Shirley Valentine was lonely and she had dreams and no one seemed to be bothered that she was alone. Obviously I saw the film and I enjoyed it. I did like the flash backs etc it added to the film, in some films this did not work but in Shirley Valentine it worked wonderfully.
