Forsyth Country Day School has a well-designed and comprehensive writing program that allows our students to grow and develop into excellent writers by the time they leave our school, as is evidence by their acceptance to and subsequent performance at top colleges and universities nationwide. In addition, we re-evaluate our writing curriculum every year; making any changes we feel are necessary to improve it even further. In the public schools, students are taught (and practice writing for) the N.C. Writing Test. We believe that teaching “to a test,” as the public schools are compelled to do, does not serve the best interests of young writers as well as our program does. Regarding Lower School students leaving FCDS for HAG, it’s a rare occurrence, though there will always be one or two. Forsyth Country Day School has an accelerated curriculum, and the typical student at FCDS would be an AG student in public school.
