How would WWI have turned out had the Franco-Prussian war not stopped at Paris?
Well, there would have been no western front. Austria would have taken Serbia and the Austrian-German alliance would have forced Russia to the negotiating table very quickly. It is conceivable that without the long drawn-out struggle the Russian revolution would not have happened. Britain would still have entered the war because of the alliance with Russia, but her support would have been in the east, not in France. Belgium would not have been invaded by Germany. The Ottoman empire would not have collapsed but may have lost Palestine and Syria to Britain. However, the Ottomans may have taken Greece and Cyprus. Italy would have lost territory (perhaps even Venice) to Austria. it is doubtul that the war would have lasted long enough for the US to enter the conflict. Poland would not exist. It would still be split between Germany and Russia. Hungary would not exist. It would be part of Austria. Bulgaria would still be owned by the Turks.
