How would the ECHO probe function in a low-density medium like Perlite?
We have tested Perlite and other low-density growing media and determined that we could create a calibration curve for them. Because Perlite has a low bulk density and has large grains, the accuracy of the probe measurement seemed to be diminished when compared to the stated accuracy of the probe. However, we were able to resolve small changes in water content when we used Perlite to grow lentils under artificial light.
