How would the Academy be more accountable to the local community?
The sponsors for the proposed Isle of Sheppey Academy bring a range of qualities and experience. First and foremost, what they share is a commitment to providing the highest standards of education for the young people in Sheppey. The sponsors would also make decisions about the Academy’s vision and ethos and structures for governing and managing the new school. They would appoint a majority of the members of the governing body which runs the Academy. Through their involvement with the governing body, sponsors will continue to contribute their support as the Academy develops. As part of the process of consultation, the sponsors will be looking at how parents and the community would like to be involved in a genuine partnership in their children’s education.
