How would someone like Rugby player Pierre Spies compare to a NFL player ?
Although they seem alot alike i dont think that there is much in common between Rugby and football, and rugby players and football players. Football is more short distance sprinting where you have time to stop and analize a play then proceede how ever you see fit, rugby however is more non-stop action, you must always be on your toes and you pretty much never stop moving. Football players are much larger and bulkier and because of the extra protection and weight of the shoulder pads and the helmet, they are able to tackle harder. Rugby players are generally less bulky (compare Defensive and offensive linemen to the scrummers or Linebackers and Runningbacks to the Backs in rugby) However Rugby players are in much much much better phyisical condition, while they might not be as strong as football players, they are playing entire games, pretty much non-stop, with very little substitution.
