How would Sensible Tax Reform affect employment?
A $700 billion annual trade deficit represents an enormous drain on the domestic American economy. It involves the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs. Whether they are factories moving to China or service centers to India, the loss of American jobs is part of the price we pay for our weak performance internationally. Entire factories, companies and even industries have been off-shored. Some of that loss is irretrievable; once lost, it is unlikely to be reclaimable. However, many of those factories can be brought back to the U.S. STR will allow a leveling of the global playing field. Hundreds of thousands of jobs can be saved and hundreds of thousands more can be created or brought home.
