How Would One Prevent Sand From Getting Into Running Shoes When Running On The Beach?

I used to run on the beach in Monterey and there was just no way around it. The only tip I have to offer is to wear long socks that are fairly new. As they get older, the space between the threads seems to get wider or something and more sand gets in. Also, if your socks are too short, sand will get in from the top. I used to wear ankle length socks, but for running on the beach I’d wear at least calf length. Also, try running near grass or right where the sand is wet. It tends to clump to itself or to the grass in those areas and is less likely to get in your shoes. But there’s no other way I know of to avoid getting sand in your shoes or on your feet when running on the beach.
