How would Native Americans feel if they saw white Americans wearing authentic Native clothing?
I, as a Native American, I get rather annoyed when I see any Non-Natives, not just Whites wearing Native regalia (traditional clothing). It looks ridiculous and it’s insulting to me. It’s one thing to admire my culture, but to try and dress like my ancestors is down right insulting… It’s like seeing a Native wearing laderhosen, kilts, Samurai uniform, Knight armor, or even as a Hoplite… It’s just dumb. EDIT: The Hippies would and have tried to dress like NDNs, and they are the inventors of the New Age/Book Indians… It was because of them is why Natives would refer to wannabe Natives as Twinkies, referring to the VW “Twinkies” vans they drove.
