How would landlords be affected?
The plan would prohibit rental property owners from discriminating against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender clients in making leasing decisions or in setting rent costs. However, a person who owns both sides of a duplex or rents rooms in their single-family dwelling could decline to lease to homosexuals, based on state and federal legal exceptions for owner-occupied dwellings.
