How would JAX—Florida affect the environment?
The Jackson Laboratory works hard to comply with federal, state and local health, safety and environmental regulations and has received numerous awards for its “green” campus initiatives in Bar Harbor, ranging from recycling, renewable energy, energy conservation, hiking trail construction, van-pooling, and unobtrusive lighting. There would be small quantities of common lab chemicals at JAX—Florida, but they would be strictly monitored, controlled and disposed of. JAX—Florida would pose a lower chemical threat to the environment than a typical hospital or an auto repair shop.
