How would curbside recycling pick-up occur?
The specifics of the program have not been absolutely finalized, but according to the Department of Public Works proposal each residence would receive curbside recycling weekly (on Wednesday). Each household would be provided a recycling bin prior to the first collection day. Participating households would place their bin full of recyclables at the curb no earlier than 6PM the Tuesday night and no later than 7AM on Wednesday (in order to guarantee collection). Possible ordinances may also require participants to retrieve their recycling bin from the curb by midnight on Wednesday to minimize visual impacts. At the programs inception, recyclables will be collected in a commingled manner, meaning everything mixed together and no source-separation required.
