How would an emperor penguin adapt to the arctic tundra?
Not well, since tundra isn’t easy to traverse for long legged animals like caribou/reindeer or humans. And while there are many lakes in tundra areas, they don’t tend to be very large, and may not have any fish. A penguin would wear itself out and starve to death in short order. Assuming it wasn’t killed by bears, wolves, wolverines, or foxes. Or its eggs eaten by ground squirrels or weasels. Yeah, I don’t think most penguins have to deal with land predators. They might do pretty well on actual arctic coastline, but tundra would not be a happy place for them. Oh, and a penguin HAS been caught in Southeast Alaska. There’s no tundra there, and it isn’t in the arctic, but they’ve come closer than you’d think.
