Alcohol is more commonly seen to have a negative impact on society due to violence, abuse, binge drinking and so on. Within the UK binge drinking is a common problem both on the streets and in the news. It is having a negative impact on society, making parents and elderly people afraid of youths as well as making the youths more likely to get into a fight on a night out and so on. However, I believe it is mostly the negative reviews of alcohol in the news that is making alcohol have a bad effect on society. There are also the constant adverts and news reports telling us how bad alcohol is for our health (also drunk driving etc). However, if you look at countries such as France, alcohol could be seen to have a positive impact on society. But this is largely because the French have a completely different attitude to drinking than the British.
