How would a coalition government work?
Only the Liberals and the NDP MPs would form government as the Bloc itself recognizes its illegitimacy to govern Canada. The Liberals and the NDP coalition will require the support of 42 MPs to pass legislation in the House. The Bloc has agreed to support them on votes of confidence (for example, a budget or throne speech) for 18 months. On other legislation, the 42 votes needed to pass could come from some combination of Conservatives, the Bloc or the two independent members in the house.
