How wisdom teeth get impacted?
There are several categories that are known for impacted wisdom teeth. The most known and common form of impaction is called Mesioangular impaction ( around 44%), that means that the impacted tooth is leaning forward and looking at the mouth. Second most common impactation is called Vertical impaction it occus in 38% of the time and what happens is, the wisdom tooth does not breake through gum skin. A bit less known impactation is named Distoangular impaction (around 6% of the time) and it means that the tooth is facing backward, towards the rear of the mouth. And at last we have a Horizontal impaction (3%) and it is the least common form, horizontal impaction means that the tooth is facing forward and at the angle of 90o hitting the nearby tooth growing into his roots.
