How will world financial crisis impact pharmaceutical industry? Clinical research in particular?

To your question about the financial crisis and pharma and thus clinical research, there are several factors that I would like you to consider. 1) Fewer resources and more responsibility for FDA and CMS: The long list of things that the FDA and CMS will have to implement: inspections in China, follow-on biologics, direct drug price negotiations and comparative advantage puts taking regulatory risk on innovative compounds way down the list. Also, to the degree more is expected, and yet not much more funding will likely be given, means that resources will be shifted from NDA and BLA review and design and toward safety and monitoring of current products.
