How will WERF funding be divided among the six program areas?
The selection of funded challenges starts with the short list prepared by the subscriber selection team (Step 2 of the Program-Directed Research process.) The Research Council considers the priority given to each challenge by subscribers during Step 1, the feasibility study and research plan prepared by the Exploratory Teams in Step 3, and what makes the most sense as an overall research agenda strategy considering all six program areas together. Transparent screening and selection criteria are applied. Funding recommendations are made to the WERF Board of Directors by the Research Council.
