How will we insure the quality of the Educational Studies Program?
We are committed to insuring that the quality of the student experience meets Spelman standards, and indeed, almost all of the courses needed will be offered at Spelman College through the Educational Studies Program. In addition to the leadership provided by Dr. Peterson, we will make use of existing faculty resources in relevant content areas (i.e, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics) as well as specialized lecturers as needed. For example, a course on school leadership might be taught on a part-time basis by a practicing school principal or superintendent. Such arrangements are commonly used in high-quality Educational programs because it makes real the link between theory and practice, and is consistent with our Conceptual Framework of the “Teacher as a Leader.
