Now that the town council is operating as a separate entity, it will be able to agree its own budget for the forthcoming year (2010/11) and calculate a council tax figure for the town council. This additional amount will appear as a separate item on the council tax bill for residents of the town council area. Residents in other parts of the borough do not make any contribution to Darwen Town Council. As part of the process for producing the 2010/11 council tax bills, properties in the five core wards of Darwen will need to be re-created as new accounts within a separate parish area for the new town council.
