How will the VEN be implemented?
The VEN implementation approach has been developed in consultation with state/territory governments and VET stakeholders including the Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG), TAFE Directors Australia, Group Training Australia and the Australian Council for Private Education and Training. A VEN Implementation Strategy has been endorsed by the Ministerial Council for Tertiary Education and Employment (MCTEE) and the National Senior Officials Committee (NSOC), which comprises senior executives of the Australian and state government departments responsible for training. The broadband element of the VEN implementation strategy is being implemented in two stages: • Stage One involves establishing and funding the operation of a national backbone network – the VEN Backbone Network or VBN. Building as far as possible on existing infrastructure, the VBN will provide interconnections between existing networks serving TAFE institutions in each state and territory.
