How will the UN create the UNeDocs document definitions?
UNeDocs is based on: -Existing trade standards (Recommendation 1, ICC, FIATA, IATA, WMO trade document templates) -Existing EDI standards (UN/EDIFACT) UNeDocs is thus an implementation of existing EDI and trade standards in the area of electronic trade documents and not a new electronic business platform. UNeDocs builds on existing developments and implementations of electronic trade documentation, ie on existing UN/EDIFACT Message Implementation Guides, the simpEDI, ELECTRA and TraDES software. UNeDocs is concentrating on standard trade documents only. It describes what a trade document is and how the document is electronically represented. It does not describe how documents should be transferred, ie it does not define virtual markets and trading platforms. The development of these systems is the mandate of the private sector. UNeDocs documents will be accessible to SMEs and developing countries (Internet compatibility, compatibility with standard office software).UNeDocs based docume
