How will the tissue be embedded and sectioned?
Paraffin embedded tissue is generally sectioned in one of three ways. Representative sections are generally cut from the center of the specimen, with 2-4 sections mounted on the slide. These sections are usually cut at 4-5 microns. SERIAL sectioning refers to the complete sectioning of the tissue, with sections mounted in exact order on the slides. Step sectioning (or levels) refers to multiple sections (usually 3 or 4) from one block that are approximately 100 microns apart. There is an additional charge of “tech time” for step sectioning (approximately 5 minutes/block). Variations upon these two methods are available — please inquire.
