How will the Service decide whether or not to authorize the transfer?
The Service uses an analytic process established under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) to ensure that the decision of whether or not to approve the land transfer facilitates the long-term health and balance of resources, ecosystems, and human communities. The Service encourages community involvement and has established various outreach efforts to ensure that the public has ample opportunity to actively participate in the decision-making process.
