How will the sensitive Natural Temperate Grasslands be protected during the remediation works?
The majority of the contamination remediation works will be undertaken in the area of the landfill which is outside the Natural Temperate Grasslands area. The works which need to occur in the Natural Temperate Grasslands have been referred to the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and will be conducted in accordance with the approval of the referred action. The areas within the Grasslands which are to be remediated, and any areas disturbed by vehicle movements during the remediation, will be revegetated with seed taken from the site.
