How will the scheme be phased in for existing staff?
The phasing strategy will be based on risk factors i.e. those who are new entrants into the workforce and those moving jobs will be the first to go through the Scheme: • Phase 1: As already outlined above, this will be rolled out in stages – transitional changes will come into force from 12 October 2009, ability to register and check from July 2010 and legal penalties coming being enforced from November 2010 • Phase 2: (from 1 Feb 2011) Will require existing staff already working/ volunteering within regulated activity who are not changing jobs but who have never had a CRB check to be register with the ISA, their registration should include an enhanced CRB check • Phase 3: Will require existing staff already working or volunteering in regulated activity who have had a CRB check over three years ago to register with the ISA • Phase 4: Will require existing staff already working/volunteering in regulated activity who have had a more recent CRB check (less than three years ago) to registe
