We can also do this by providing more local jobs and facilities in the town which will reduce the need to travel. We also recognise that Whitehill Bordon needs to be far better connected with the surrounding towns and villages. East Hampshire District Council is working with Hampshire County Council, which is the transport authority, and the Department for Transport to ensure that the town will be properly linked by public transport. To kick-start the improvements EHDC has already committed to spend up to £1,000,000 across the district – with Whitehill Bordon being a top priority. Hampshire County Council and the Department for Transport will be providing much larger sums of money to this project – because the town is expected to lead the way in innovative public transport.
