How will the renovation change GW Hillel?
At GW Hillel, we will set the standard for environmental consciousness among Hillel centers by creating a “green” facility that incorporates renewable energy sources, energy-conserving appliances and utilities, and a rooftop garden. In doing so, we will take part in GW President Steven Knapp’s initiative to make GW one of the nation’s most environmentally sustainable campuses. GW Hillel plans to renovate its kosher kitches and prayer spaces. This will allow for one locked kosher kitchen that will be used for holiday meals, and another kosher kitchen where students can bring a taste of home to their lives on campus. In order to meet our students’ spiritual needs, GW Hillel offers three weekly Shabbat services, and we plan to renovate the new facility to provide prayer space for all three minyanim.
