HOW WILL THE REBATE WORK?

0

If you are eligible, you can claim the rebate in your 2006-07 income tax return. You can claim 30% of the out-of-pocket expenses you had to pay for approved child care for the period 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2006. The rebate is a non-refundable tax offset which reduces the tax calculated on your income when you lodge your income tax return. Any unused rebate cannot be refunded, but it can be transferred to the person who was your spouse on 30 June 2007. Once you have made a valid transfer, it cannot be reversed or cancelled. Any change to your CCB entitlement will affect your out-of-pocket expenses.
