How will the NFL respond to declining attendance?

0

It sounds cliché, but the NFL is a victim of its own success. You would think that the most popular sports league in America could name their price and still sell out every stadium for every game without even trying. For awhile they did. The NFL had like three seasons without a blackout. Now, they face a situation where the attendance is declining and cities like Jacksonville and Oakland aren’t selling out. It won’t be long before Buffalo, Seattle and St. Louis follow suit, if they haven’t had this problem already. Ironically, the ticket prices and the bad economy are only a fraction of the problem. The majority of the problem is that the league (and fantasy football) is so popular that fans don’t want to be tied down to just one game. The home viewing experience offers fans the ability to keep up with all the games and watch multiple games on TV. Thus far the NFL has talked about piping the Redzone Channel into stadiums for fans, but it will take a lot more than that to get them away
