How will the new National Strategies learner resources work, and to what extent do they replace or complement the previous ones?
The National Strategies’ Gifted and Talented progress tool includes some of the features of the City GATES Needs Analysis Tool. This resource is a self-evaluation and progression tool for use by school staff working with pupils. It supports a dialogue between learner and teacher to identify learning and development needs, and helps to identify useful resources for learners and for teachers. Some of the materials from the Progression Academies are being re-purposed for school use as part of the National Challenge Gifted and Talented project. These Progression Skills materials are available to all schools in the G&T area of this website. There is also a learner resources area which contains useful resources for learners. These materials and resources are available alongside the existing resources and advice that have been produced by the National Strategies to support Gifted and Talented education.
