As per Florida Statute 633.34(6), Firefighters must be free from tobacco use (to include pipes, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff, or any other type of smoking or smokeless tobacco) for a period of 365 days prior to employment as a Firefighter. Personnel transitioning to Firefighter positions must be tobacco free from their date of hire with MCFR. All other personnel being hired from EMSA during the designated employment period for the transition will be grandfathered. 3) What will be the policy considering the EMSA EMT and Paramedics who cannot or do not want to be Fire certified?
