The new meters will be less intrusive for you. Once installation is complete, Progress Energy will not enter your yard on a regular basis, except for occasional maintenance or to begin or end electric service. You will no longer have to unlock gates or secure pets on the day your meter will be read. The new meters also will reduce human error, which means you will receive more accurate bills and fewer estimated bills.
