How will the merger affect Drexels bond rating?
The bond analysts have known for some time that Drexel was considering merging with MCP Hahnemann University, and they think this is a good development for the University. In the November 5, 2001 edition of Credit Week Municipal, Standard & Poors reported that Drexel’s credit rating had been upgraded from A- to A. In doing so, it noted that, “The stable outlook [for Drexel] also reflects the assumption that any financial consolidation of MCP Hahnemann would be financially neutral or positive for Drexel.” For the full text of Standard & Poor’s evaluation, click {here}.
