How will the Government of Canada ensure that the donated money is used transparently and accountably?
Registered Canadian charities receiving donations for flood relief efforts will use the funds they have raised for humanitarian assistance, early recovery, and reconstruction activities in Pakistan or forward them to another organization that can deliver assistance. These organizations are accountable for the use of the funds they receive. Individuals are encouraged to ensure that the organizations to which they are donating are using the funds for flood relief. The Pakistan Flood Relief Fund is separate from, and not pooled with, the funds raised by the registered Canadian charities. CIDA has monitoring, audit and evaluation systems in place to ensure that projects supported by the relief fund are implemented effectively.
